This is going to be a bit of a short post, but I think an interesting one all it's own.
Recently, on an episode of Outside The Lines: First Report on ESPN, Spike Lee was the focus, as his new film, Kobe Doin' Work (which premiered at Tribeca last week) will air this Saturday at 8 pm (without commercials). At the end of this 30 minute show, Lee was asked what an upcoming project of his will be released, and his comments were pretty interesting.
"I'm working on a documentary on the last season of Jordan's run with the Bulls. NBA Films has footage from the start of camp, going all the way to the end of the playoffs, and all of the time between. This isn't just game footage either. There is shots of Jordan and Phil Jackson smoking cigars on a train on their way to a game."
Along with Inside Man 2, the film is set to be released in 2010, and his production company, 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks will produce, with financing coming from The NBA.
This project is beyond exciting for me. I love Jordan, as any and all basketball fans do, and Spike is a really great film maker. Also, him having access to EVERY SECOND of footage in the vault at NBA Films is what really intrigues me.
What about you?
Oh, and my review of Kobe Doin' Work will be up Saturday evening!
Go see something good!
