One of the bigger WTF casting choices, or set of choices, comes to us from Terminator: Salvation director McG, and his 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea adaptation. First off, there was the much publicized rumor that Mr. McG had his eyes set on casting Will Smith. I know, you are think that he is TOTALLY who pops into your head when you think Captain Nemo.
Well, it looks like he may have gotten at least one screw back into his abbreviated head, as it is being talked about that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is being sought after to take up the role. Yes, he's not a great actor, but he fits the role more than Will Smith.
That said, this is still a true WTF moment. It sounds like a bad FML. Today I found out that The Rock was being rumored to be Captain Nemo in a McG film. FML. It's not the worst choice, but when you get FirstShowing throwing out great choices like Faran Tahir from Iron Man, then it puts it into perspective.
Honestly, I doubt this film will be made, at least by the people working on it now, as Terminator: Salvation is most likely going to kill at the box office, and it wouldn't surprise me if McG drops this for Terminator 5, which he has already been dishing out story points for.
What do you think?
Go see something good...
