Tetro is the newest film from legendary director Francis Ford Coppola, and it's his second film in 12 years, and is also his first original screenplay since The Conversation. The film, based from memories and emotions from his early life, though totally fictional, is the story of two brothers. It looks at the conflicts within their family, and features a great cast, spearheaded by indie darling, Vincent Gallo.
The film, shot in stark black and white, looks stunningly beautiful, and looks to be a return to form for the film maker, after last years Youth Without Youth, which, while not horrible, didn't really work as a film. Where other film makers seem to stick themselves in the creative mud, it looks like Coppola is attempting to get back to his roots, and with how great this trailer looks, I must say, I couldn't be happier. Check it out below!
“Fresh faced and naive, 17-year-old Bennie arrives in Buenos Aires to search for his older brother who has been missing for more than a decade. The family had emigrated from Italy to Argentina, but with the great musical success of their father Carlo, an acclaimed symphony conductor, the family moved from Argentina to New York. When Bennie finds his brother, the volatile and melancholy poet Tetro, he is not at all what he expected. In the course of staying with Tetro and his girlfriend Miranda, the two brothers grapple with the haunting experiences of their shared past.”
The film stars Vincent Gallo, Alden Ehrenreich, Maribel Verdu, Klaus Maria Brandauer and Carmen Maura.
Go see something good!
