NEWS: Thor To Go Into Production in January...

Oh Twitter, how easily you break news.

So, basically, over on their Twitter, Production Weekly said that Marvel Studios is set to begin principal photography on Thor, sometime in January. Hopefully, in the run up leading up to principal photography starting, we may be able to get a hold of some production materials, and maybe even a script. However, all we know now is this.

- Kenneth Branagh is helming the project

- Script is written by Mark Protosevich (with alleged revisions by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz

- The movies plot is basically this: The movie’s story sees the god of thunder Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions re-ignite an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans. Once here, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends dark forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

- Chris Hemworth is starring in the titular role

- Odin will be played by Anthony Hopkins

- Natalie Portman is Jane Foster, nurse to Thor’s alter-ego, Donald Blake

- Loki will be played by Tom Hiddleston

- Jaimie Alexander and Stellan Skarsgard are also in the cast.

- Production will kick off in L.A. in January, and then will move to New Mexico in March, and should be in the can by April, if all goes well. Expect SOMETHING to be seen at Comic Con, if not earlier.

NEWS: Chris Hemsworth is Thor...

Sure, it's a Saturday, but that doesn't mean news is never released.

The biggest chunk of news happens to come out of Marvel's camp, and it has to do with the Norse God himself, Thor.

It looks as though Chris Hemsworth, last seen in Star Trek as Kirks father, will play the title character in Marvel's upcoming adaptation of the hit comic book series, Thor, as well as the 2012 team up, The Avengers.

The final decision came earlier today, says Nikki Finke, and was made by Marvel and director, Kenneth Branagh.

The current project that Hemsworth is working on the Joss Whedon project, Cabin in The Woods, and has also been cast in the upcoming remake of Red Dawn.

The project is being written by Mark Protosevich, and Marvel is self financing it, which is set to be released on June 17th, 2011.

NEWS: Thor, Sex Drive, and Star Trek...

Hey guys. Now, I've got a great bit of news to let you all check out, so lets get into it...

- It looks as though Kenneth Branagh is bailing on his adaptation of Hamlet to get to work on the next Marvel film, Thor...FINALLY! Now, who would you like to see as the Norse Badass?
- Big news! It looks like Jason Bourne WILL return to the big screen. Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon have both signed on, with Bourne Ultimatum co-writer Greg Nofi is penning the script for a possible summer 2010 release!!!
- The long talked about He Man live action film Greyskull: Masters of The Universe, looks to be dead and is currently staying off of the books...
- Big time news! Thanks to EW for all of the following information! In the upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly features the upcoming film, Star Trek, and features the full plot synopsis. Check it out!

Star Trek’s time-travel plot is set in motion when a Federation starship, the USS Kelvin, is attacked by a vicious Romulan (Eric Bana) desperately seeking one of the film’s heroes. From there, the film then brings Kirk and Spock center stage and tracks the origins of their friendship and how they became officers aboard the Enterprise. In fact, the movie shows how the whole original series crew came together: McCoy (Karl Urban), Uhura (ZoĆ« Saldana), Scotty (Simon Pegg), Sulu (John Cho), and Chekov (Anton Yelchin). The adventure stretches from Earth to Vulcan, and yes, it does find a way to have Nimoy appearing in scenes with at least one of the actors on our cover — and maybe both. The storytelling is newbie-friendly, but it slyly assimilates a wide range of Trek arcana, from doomed Captain Pike (Bruce Greenwood) to Sulu’s swordsmanship to classic lines like, ”I have been, and always shall be, your friend.” More ambitiously, the movie subversively plays with Trek lore — and those who know it. The opening sequence, for example, is an emotionally wrenching passage that culminates with a mythic climax sure to leave zealots howling ”Heresy!” But revisionism anxiety is the point. ”The movie,” Lindelof says, ”is about the act of changing what you know.”

Not only do I have that goody, but I've got a few EW exclusive photos to share!

Wow. What do you guys think about the photos?

- Finally, if you didn't get to read my review of Sex Drive about a month ago and actually want to see it, check out the first 10 minutes of it, and then check out my review, I'm reposting it in a few minutes...

BIG news...

Hey guys. Here are some really BIG pieces of news that have come out today...

-As reported here, Donnie Darko is getting a sequel, but the FIRST POSTER is out...it's an in production poster, but still, it's proof that the end of days is indeed coming...check it out, and prepare for the Apocalypse (I mean, wasn't one of the plagues a plague of shitty movies?)

-The first trailer for the newest X-Files movie is online now...check it out!

-Bruce Willis may star as Hannibal in the upcoming A-Team film...
-Brad Pitt as Thor? Now that Snatch producer Matthew Vaughn is out, this is not such a surefire thing. Although, for WWE fans, WWE Superstar Triple H is one of the people being considered. He IS big enough and kinda looks like him...He's also quite funny, whatever that counts for. This may work, but don't hold your breath. Brad Pitt is likely the frontrunner, and Marvel, with the release and complete monster intake it took from Iron Man can afford him...more on this as it develops!
-Also! Mel Gibson is in the running to take the helm of this superhero flick...what do you guys think?
-Frank Miller is NOT directing Buck Rogers, as reported here last week...he has since then backed out...
