- Pixar will NOT be "tinkering" with the release of Toy Story and it's sequel when they are released later next year...

So, I've had a hectic weekend, and never got around to doing my weekend post. Therefore, I have decided to bare it down to only the upcoming releases for DVD. Here are the films that you should buy, rent and burn...

BUY
- Iron Man -
The 318 Million dollar hit, that started the summer season off with a bang. Lead by a brilliant performance from it's star, Robert Downey Jr., this is one film every action film and comic book fan should own. Comes in a single disc, and two disc edition, along with a Best Buy Exclusive Box Set that includes a bust of the Iron Man helmet, along with a 100$ gift certificate to sideshowcollectables.com...

RENT
- Bigger, Faster, Stronger* -
Little seen documentary on steriods in sports, and the effects thereof. Crittically acclaimed, and much adored, this little documentary saw a very limited release, and is now available on DVD.
- Chapter 27 -
Film about Mark David Chapman, the man who took the life of Beatle, John Lennon. Starring Jared Leto, this film also saw a limited release, and was shown at my hometown film festival, The Waterfront Film Festival, to mixed reviews. Lindsay Lohan also stars.

BURN
- Forgetting Sarah Marshall -
Sure, it's much loved by critics, even ones I respect. However, I'm alone in my detest for most of Judd Apatow and crew's work. This one does have a little hope though. RUSSEL BRAND. The guy is a genius, and may save this film. I've not seen this one yet, but will be checking it out on Tuesday, so take this with a grain of salt. I may like it, but as of the trailers and crew behind it, I'm saying burn it..

That's all I've got for now...come back later for more news, notes, and a DVD review of Forgetting Sarah Marshall...

Some news...

Hey guys! Here are some little tidbits that I thought were interesting while scouring the world that we call the Internet...

-Steven Spielberg's next film after Tintin WILL be Lincoln, a biopic on the great president...
-Death Race 2000 remake, Death Race, has had it's release date pushed up from September 26th, to August 22nd...
-Check out Iron Man again, and this time, look around a little bit, you MAY just catch a glimpse of a patriotic heroe's trademark shield...it's not certain, but it's a fun little thing. Go check it out for yourself!
-Oh, speaking of rumors, theres another one surrounding The Incredible Hulk. Stay after the credits for this flick too, as Samuel L. Jackson may just make another appearence. It's just a rumor now, more on it later!

Thats it for now, so come back later for more news, and if you have a top 10 you want to see, just comment!

Iron Man...a short review...

Okay, so everyone saw this movie, so this really isn’t a straight up review. The critics of the movie are all here, but I’m not going to go into depth on the plot at all. This is just really to spark a conversation. Also, I loved the comics like a small child, so I am going to stay as ungeeky as possible. So, here’s the review.
So, while I may geek out to this movie, I can still look at it objectively. What was good about this movie? Well, in a simple word, everything. First off, Robert Downey Jr. was really born to play this film. He plays the playboy with a brain so perfectly. Iron Man is a broken hero, with his battles with alcoholism, and Jr. plays that to a T. The action is great, although this film is not based around the action like say, Transformers. It’s not a Michael Bay film. Favreu knows how to shoot action and great special effects, while adding to the character. It’s not just over the top action for action’s sake. It’s to further the character. Not only that, but this film looks absolutely gorgeous. The supporting actors are also really solid. Bridges plays a great villain, and Terrance Howard and Gwyneth Paltrow are also really good in their supporting roles. One of the really suprising things about this movie was the dialogue. It’s like a slapstick comedy/noir –esque style with piffy one liners and quick witted replies, and it really worked for this movie. It’s not your normal comic movie. It’s a lot more character based. Also, it stayed very close to the comic books, and with the little hints at upcoming films, this is just the beginning of what may be one of the better trilogies to grace celluloid. Also, if you haven’t seen this, stay for the credits, you may just get a little surprise. The only quabble I have with this film is the fact that the first and final act do lag just a tad bit. However, it’s not much of a letdown as the film picks right back up. This is one of the best films of this year so far, and will be right up there for best of this summer.
So, what do you guys think about this movie? Leave a comment!

If you guys have a significant other, you will enjoy this movie, because you know what, your woman will like it, probably a lot, so she’ll be happy, and happy girlfreinds are what we all strive for! Now, all I know is that this film won a ton of awards for best foreign film, and people are saying it’s life changing. Also, it’s from Basquiat director Julian Schnabel, so please check this out. It’s a major miss from last year for me, so I am really excited to check this one out.

Okay, so I have had a long week. Finals, moving out, and moving back in. So, if you couldn’t guess, productivity for this blog is taking a hit. I will be scontinuing to post here, as much as I can. I am working from 6 to 3 in the afternoon, so I won’t be posting until the late afternoon. I will continue to bring you all the same stuff, just either in longer posts, or through a scheduled thing. Like maybe specific topics for each day. I have seen 21, so you can expect a review of that tomorrow, and an Iron Man review, albeit a really tiny, egg shell walking version on Wednesday. Mummy news...

Hey guys, here are a couple of bigger pieces of news for this thursday night...

- The Mummy 3 may not be the last in the series. Actually, read this little piece of info posted by MTV...

The franchise has been away from the big-screen for seven years. It’s changed directors. It even replaced its leading lady. And, yet, so confident was newcomer Maria Bello that the Mummy series hooked itself up to the rejuvenation machine - she recently promised MTV that there would be at least three more before all was said and done.

“I’ve got to talk to her. We need to compare notes!” star Brendan Fraser joked, playfully refusing to directly address Bello’s assertion. “I have to go read my agreement. Do I get to come back too?” Well, of course you do, sir, so no fair being coy – the Mummy’s already out of the sarcophagus, so to speak. Let’s take it as a given that there will be more sequels. Given the choice, then, how would you like your next ten years Mr. Fraser? Covered in sand or draped in foliage?

-Microsoft is in the hunt for some employees to "expand the Halo universe". A source confirms that this is indeed a hunt for people to work on Peter Jackson's Halo Project...fanboys rejoice
-There are rumors that the original Terminator himself, AHNOLDDD will appear in the upcoming Terminator 4...
-Finally, Indy 4 will open at The Canne Film Festival...

Alright, so here's the thing. I will be seeing Iron Man at a special screening on Tuesday, three days before the wide release...do you guys want a review of it on Wednesday, or do you want one on Friday. I can have a brief one in my news post for that day, and then a full one on Friday, or just go all out Wednesday night. What do you guys want?

-Seth McFarlane, the voice of some of the characters on Family Guy, will be voicing Johann Kraus in the upcoming Hellboy sequel...
-The first Indy 4 review came out today. Here are some of the noteable blurbs
- "The best of the Indy sequels.”
- “The film has the strongest supporting cast of the sequels.”
- “There are many breakneck set pieces, with a protracted jungle chase being particularly memorable. As well as being evocative of the truck chase from the first movie.”
- “…an ending that any longtime diehard fan of the films could only dream about. Expect a particularly resounding reaction in the theater.”

You can read the whole thing here...

God I hope this is all true...
-In BIG superhero news, test screenings of The Incredible Hulk have come out with two things. Mixed thoughts on the film, and the shock of seeing Tony Stark, Iron Man, in the film. Yes, the rumors are true, Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr, does make a cameo appearence in the Incredible Hulk.

Other than that, there really is nothing new, so come back later for more news....
