POSTERS: Entire Character Poster Set For 9...

Early this week, a special character poster for Shane Acker's upcoming animated feature, 9, was released, starring, you guessed it, the doll simply named 9. Well, after that hit the web running, it wouldn't take long for the studio to shell out the other 7 posters (2 characters share a poster), all of which are stunning works. All of these posters fit the style and feel of the film perfectly, and below you can see my personal favorite. Tell me you wouldn't want that hanging up in your room! The other's can be seen by clicking the link after the poster.

Click HERE to see the other 7 posters

9 takes place in a world parallel to our own, in which our very humanity is threatened. A group of rag dolls living a post-apocalyptic existence find one of their own, 9, who may be the key to their survival.

9 is both written and directed by visionary filmmaker Shane Acker, of two previous animated shorts The Hangnail and The Astounding Talents of Mr. Grenade. The screenplay was co-written by Acker and Pamela Pettler (Corpse Bride, Monster House). 9 was first an animated short that debuted in 2005 and received an Oscar nomination. Focus Features will be debuting 9 in theaters everywhere starting on September 9th.

POSTERS: A Cornucopia of Love...

So, in a rather lackluster news day (as could be expected for Oscar Nomination day), there actually is a bit of news to let you all know about. However, they all happen to be posters, so, get ready for one hell of a feast for your eyes.

Friday The 13th

I actually really like this poster a lot. It's minimalist, it's eye catching, and it's just a lot of fun. It's been getting lackluster responses, particularly from The Movie Blog, but I just really really like this poster a lot. It's one that I would like to have in my room, for whatever that can be taken for.

Up!

Really nothing great, but it's a weird story to try and market, so with what they have, it's a rather solid poster. I'm just already as excited for this film as I possibly could be, so there is nothing that could help or hinder that.

Street Fighter: Legend Of Chun Li

Floating heads for a Street Fighter film. The first poster sucked, and this one does, just less hard.

What do you all think of these posters? Is ANYONE excited about Street Fighter, outside of the fact that we will see hot Asian girls fight it out?

NEWS: Sequels, Nazis, and a Sherlock Holmes...

Hey guys! I've been on a "vacation" the past couple of days, so there are quite a few things to get into...here are your headlines...

- As I put in a note a little bit ago, Paul Newman, star of classics like Cool Hand Luke, has passed away at the age of 83 from a long time fight with cancer...May this titan of a man and actor be remember for the legend he was...
- Disney is looking at and allegedly in talks with George Clooney to play the Lone Ranger in their upcoming film adaptation...
- Disney is in talks to add on to the hit "National Treasure" franchise...
- As of today, there will not be a Devil Wears Prada sequel...thanks to The Movie Blog for the info...

I’m really, really proud of Fox’s decision not to pursue a sequel,” the 25-year-old actress said of the 2006 film that became an unexpected $100 million blockbuster. “When I did [the upcoming film] ‘Bride Wars’ with them I asked what happened, and they said we can’t make a story, and it’s not worth it to damage the original film.”

Thoughts? Is this a film you would like to see a sequel to?
- CASTING: Rachel McAdams has joined the cast of Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes and will play the love intrest to the literary icon...
- The first images from Tim Burton's upcoming film, Alice In Wonderland have been released...check it out!

I could not be more excited about this film...It's got Burton's feel and tone, and it should be right up his wheelhouse...What are your thoughts??
- CASTING: Billy Crystal is returning to live action in the new Disney film, The Tooth Fairy...
- Finally, a new poster for the Tom Cruise Nazi vehicle, Valkyrie has been released...

Could anyone care less about this film than I do right now? It's been pushed back a billion times, the buzz behind it is Disaster Movie bad, and the first trailer really didn't rock my junk. What do YOU think?

I'll have a review tomorrow, along with an extra long Weekend Wrap Up post...a few big trailers have been released, so I'll talk more about those tomorrow...

- Here is the final trailer for the soon to be released Oliver Stone film, W...

Thoughts? I think this is the best thing I've seen from the movie since it's first poster. The script has been getting shit reviews, but I'm still really excited to check this out. Brolin looks amazing...What do you guys think?
- Finally, here are two new posters for Syencdoche, New York, and Changeling...

Thoughts?

That's all I've got for now...come back later for more news and notes...

New Batman poster...

So, sorry about the late post, but I figure, why not wait for something this amazing. The above picture is the latest in the line of BRILLIANT posters for the upcoming Batman film, The Dark Knight. I think this may be one of the better posters I've seen in a long time. What do you guys think? I know Batman has been the topic on here for a day or two now, but really, there isn't much else to talk about news wise, so lets just keep it going...

I would have a review of Wall-E here, but the film burned, which caused a fire inside of the whole theatre, so that's out of the question. However, of the 30-40 minutes I saw, it may be Pixar's best film yet, and one of the best films of the year. It's truly amazing, and even the short before it is brilliant. I will definitely be checking this one out, just not sure when. You all will be the first to know when I do get out there...maybe this weekend. Maybe a Wall-E/Hancock double feature...who knows...

Alright guys, I'll have a top ten either later tonight or tomorrow, so come back for that. Top 10 films about Voyeurs or maybe a list of 10 films that I think are under seen...Got any other ideas???

Go see something good!!!

New Death Race Poster...

I personally can't stand this poster, and it could be due to two things. One, I have more contempt for this film than most other ones that will be coming out this year. Two, the poster just really stinks. I've never been a fan of floating head posters, so this just doesn't do anything really for me. What do you guys think?

Kung Fu Panda is getting a sequel as Kung Fu Panda 2 has been greenlight by Dreamworks...Lets just hope they keep it clear of the Shrek disease...

This is all I have until Sunday, so I hope that you guys have an awesome Friday and Saturday, and I hope to get some comments on this poster and the last post for my top 10 Robot/Space films...also, leave a comment if you see Wall-E or Wanted this weekend and let me know what you think! Have a good one guys!

Go see something good!!

Poster, and a ton of news...

Hey guys! Here are some headlines for this hump day, the 26th of June...

- Pierce Brosnan and Nicholas Coppolla, oh, I mean Cage will star in the next film from Pianist director, Roman Polanski...Hey, Cage has been good when he is put with the right director. Take Wild at Heart for example...David Lynch keeps Cage's ass in check, and so should Polanski...I like Brosnan, just not as Bond, so while many people may not like this pairing, I think it has potential...What about you guys???

- The script for the upcoming sequel to School of Rock, penned by Mike White, is complete, as stated by the writer himself...is ANYONE looking forward to this? Linklater better be behind this one...or else it's not getting this money...

- Thanks to Comingsoon.net for this info on Steven Spielberg's next project, following Tintin...oh, and the first stages of production for Lincoln have started too...

- Alright, so all I am going to say about this next thing, is it's the poster for Rob Zombie's next film, Tyrannosaurus Rex...

51% Motherfucker...nice Robby...I'm sorry, but if I see a trailer for this, and it is anything like Grindhouse, and it's say, a trucker flick where the truckers fight Dinosaurs...I'm in, and I'll be in my seat opening night...what about you guys??

- The last thing is this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-D3c25_3l8&eurl=http://www.themovieblog.com/

That link right there is to the first trailer for Guy Ritchie's next Gangster flick, RocknRolla. I personally love Guy Ritchie (when he does genre flicks), although, people say this reminds them of Snatch, which I sad to say, have never seen. I know, shoot me now. However, Revolver was solid, and Lock Stock is brilliant, and this looks like more of the same, so I'm pretty excited for this movie...

I'm starting Brick right now...I've been having a hankering for some noir, so it was either Brick or Blood Simple, and I saw BS the other day, so Brick it is...and it's bloody brilliant, so for you guys, you can probably expect a DVD review for Brick sometime tomorow, or maybe even tonight, who knows...but thats all for now!

Two brand new posters...Reviews and Netflix updates...

Hey guys! Here are two brand new posters, for G.I. Joe and The Day the Earth Stood Still...

I personally don't like either of them...I think the G.I. Joe poster is really just a still from the film, one of the ones released a few months back, and with a lame logo added to a corner. The DTESS poster is decent, it isn't anything to write home about though. However, both of these films have a long way to go before I can start to be excited about them...what do you guys think???

Alright, so I am just about to head out to my local Wal Mart to pick up an Alfred Hitchcock collectors set, that includes 20 of his older and lesser known flicks. Hopefully, over the next few days, I'll check some of these out and be able to give my thoughts on some of this icon's earlier work. Also, here is an updated list of my next ten Netflix films, all of which I am looking to review for you guys!

1. In The Bedroom
2. M
3. Blue Velvet
4. Tape
5. Magnolia
6. Mon Oncule
7. La Haine
8. The Devil's Backbone
9. Blow Up
10. Hiroshima Mon Amor

This should be fun to talk about...I've seen a few of these, but in the case of like Mon Oncle and Blow Up, these are films I NEED to see, and therefor, I will...so expect a great amount of DVD reviews when I get back from my weekend getaway...

Come back later for more news and a top 10...what should it be???

The Spirit Talking Poster...

How to get this to work...

1. Click on the photo
2. Roll your cursor over the respective photos inside of the poster...

If that doesn't work, then use this link and go through the page...thanks to comingsoon.net for this piece of info...

I think this is such a cleve and fresh idea, and I could not be more excited for this flick. What do you guys think???

A Ton Of News...

Hey guys...I have a lot of stuff to talk about, so lets just get into it...

- Leonardo DiCaprio is working on a biopic of Atari founder Nolan Bushnell...thanks to Yahoo! for the info...

The actor will star in and produce “Atari,” a project about the godfather of the video game industry, Nolan Bushnell. The engineering student, puzzle-lover and game enthusiast went from fixing broken pinball machines to launching Atari Corp., a video game manufacturer, in the early ’70s. Its first product was a little game called Pong that transfixed kids in suburban rec rooms across the country and led to hundreds of millions of dollars worth of video game sales.

Within a few years, he sold the company to Warner Communications for $28 million. During the next three decades, Bushnell started many other tech ventures and also created Chuck E. Cheese’s Pizza Time Theaters.

Sounds really interesting...I don't know that much about the guy, but I like DiCaprio, and it sounds interesting, so I'm in...More on this as it develops!!

- Midnight Meat Train WILL be released in theatres on August 1st...

- Iron Man 2 filming will begin in March of 2009...

- So, Transformers 2 got a subtitle earlier last week, and it's meaning has finally been discussed...Thanks to IGN...

The site points out this entry on the Fallen, which reminds us that “the robot who would become the Fallen betrayed his creator by siding with Primus’s dark twin, the malevolent planet-eater, Unicron. In the final battle between Primus and Unicron, the Fallen fell victim to the same fate as his master, sucked through a black hole into another dimension. However, while Unicron emerged into another universe, the Fallen was not so fortunate, finding himself trapped in the ‘underspace’ between dimensions.”

Fanboys, discuss...

- Paramount has begun going around talking to the cast of Jumper on a possible sequel...

- A new pic from the set of the sure fire turd that is Death Race, the remake of the CLASSIC Death Race 2000 has been released...

Alright, so that's the main news I have for today, now, a couple of new posters have been released, and I would like to hear some thoughts on them...

Me personally, I HATE spoof movies, and I hate them more when they start spoofing POSTERS. I love the new Spirit poster, but I still want to see more, preferably a new trailer. What do you guys think??

Come back tomorow for some more news, and a top 10!!

AFI's top 100 Movie Posters...some notes...

So, in honor of this boring ass day, I decided to just search, well, stumble, through the caves of wonder that we call the internet, and in my search, I fell onto this brilliant diamond in the rough...

http://www.moviegoods.com/afi_top100a.asp?affiliateID=41&adID=12266

This is a link to the list of AFI's top 100 Greatest Movie Posters of All Time...

Now, anyone who knows me, knows that I am a really big fan of marketing, and especially movie posters. Most of these are older posters, more classic films, so most of these I haven't seen. However, they do have some of my faves on there. That said, they don't have my favorite, and I'm sure they don't have yours, so heres the question...

What is YOUR favorite movie poster ever made???

I have a few, but here's my favorite right now...

It's from a great Sam Peckinpaw film called Straw Dogs, and this poster kicks ass...That stark black and white...the stare on Hoffman's face...the sheer intensity of the shot is so damn good...

What's your favorite?

All that said, there are a couple of small pieces of news to note...

-The Simpson's cast just signed a four year deal...does anyone still watch this show?
-Thanks to comingsoon for this piece of info....

Lionsgate announced today that it has acquired U.S. and Canadian distribution rights to Transporter 3. Jason Statham returns as iconic action hero Frank Martin in the third installment of the EuropaCorp-produced series. The announcement was made today by Lionsgate’s Jason Constantine, head of Acquisitions and Co-Productions, and Tom Ortenberg, President, Theatrical Films.

Olivier Megaton directs from a script written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen. The movie is produced by EuropaCorp, TF1 Films Productions, Grive Productions and Apipoulai Production, in association with Current Entertainment. Besson produces for EuropaCorp. Lionsgate will release the film at Thanksgiving, on November 26, 2008. The film will be distributed in Canada by Maple Pictures.

Transporter 3?!?!?!? I loved the first two, but another one is not needed...Luc Besson IS helping to write it...so I'll give it a shot...

-Alfred Molina has joined the cast of Prince of Persia...
-And finally, the team that wrote Iron Man has gotten the rights to adapt the Robert Ludlum (Bourne Series) novel, The Sigma Protocol...can't wait...

Alright guys...go rent something good for this rather rainy day...

Some news...

Hey guys! Here are a few pieces of news from this afternoon...

- Robert Rodriguez has a children's film coming down the pipeline...Thanks to Yahoo! for this piece of info...

TV stars Jon Cryer and James Spader are returning to the big screen, signing up to star in Robert Rodriguez’s “Shorts,” a family adventure movie that also stars William H. Macy and Leslie Mann. Rodriguez, who also wrote the screenplay, is serving as his own director of photography, editor and visual effects supervisor. The Warner Bros. project is shooting on location in Rodriguez’s Austin hometown.

“Shorts” is set in fictional Black Falls, a suburb where everyone works for Black Box Unlimited Worldwide Industries Inc., whose communication gadget is sweeping the country. A youngster (Jimmy Bennett) discovers a rainbow-colored rock that grants wishes to anyone who holds it. First it causes havoc among the kid population, but things get turned up several notches when adults get their hands on it.

I love Rodriguez, but let's just hope this isn't Spy Kids...

- Elizabeth Burkley has joined the cast of S. Darko...

- There are two new posters out today....one is a new Hellboy poster, and the second is from an indie flick called Fight Night, about a female fighter and her friend and a scheme they put together...check 'em out...

Hellboy still looks great, and I think Fight Night could be interesting...gotta love badass chicks...

- Michael Bay will produce a film based on the game, Ouija Board...really Mikey???

Okay, now here is what I really want to talk about...Focus Features and all of their brilliance just released the first trailer from the Coehn Brother's upcoming film, Burn After Reading...all I am going to say is that I really think the Coehn's make some of the best American films out, and this is no different. This trailer is exactly why I think we will definitley be talking about this flick come Oscar time...Themovieblog.com said it best...this will be to No Country for Old Men, what The Big Lebowski was to Fargo...Check it out!

Alright...continuing on...I just got done watching Schizopolis, and I must say...what a funny ass movie. It's from Steven Soderbergh (master director...only he can do movies like Bubble and then go do Oceans 11, 12, and 13), and it also stars him. This is really available in most rental stores, as it's a Criterion Edition...but if you ever get a chance, check it out. It's a little indie precious, or overly quircky, but it is balanced out really well, and isn't over the top with it's quirck like say a Juno was. It's a story about Fletcher Munson (Soderbergh) who is a worker for a company called Eventualism, which is like a neo Scientology group. It's really just about his life, and there's not much of a story beyond that. It's a really bizzare film, but it's a great movie, and really hilarious comedy. It's right up there in the top tier of Soderbergh's canon.

I'm just starting to get through There Will Be Blood for probably the 600th time, and I must say...out of all of the amazing parts of that movie, that god damn score is beyond words. I have not heard a harsher, more emotionally influencial score in a long time. It's like the Shining's score...harsh strings, extremely moody, and fucking perfect. Really, check TWBB out right now, if only for the score, and you will get to see the best film I have seen in years.

Question time!

If the Oscars were today, what would be your Best Picture??

Alright, change in plans. I will have a review of The Strangers tomorow, as well as a brief discussion of a documentary called My Kid Could Paint That.

Captain America rumor mill...

Okay, heres the deal. Matthew McConaughey is rumored to be a top candidate for the role of Captain America...what are your thoughts...

Matty McConaughey is...
A) A Good actor
B) Mediocre
C) Pile of shit

My vote is for C! Why would Marvel do this? They've have been amazing at casting so far...Robert Downey Jr. and Edward Norton...and now this...this is just a rumor, and thats all it better be at the end of the day...

The only other big news is the new poster for Prince of Persia...check it out!

Hey guys! Here are just a couple of pieces of news on this rather slow day.

Newest Dark Knight poster...

I don't know, can a person get more excited about this film? I truly think that this will be a rare sight. This film is looking more and more every day like it's going to be one of the best films of the year. And this poster only enhances that. Best poster yet...what do you think?

Random news...

Hey guys, here is your news for this Tuesday the 22nd...

-Looks like a Nazi comedy called Mein Kampf is in the works...here is what Yahoo has to say....

“Mein Kampf,” based on a dark farce by Hungarian playwright George Tabori, is set in a Vienna hostel before World War One. In the play, an insecure Hitler is befriended by an elderly Jew who gives him his infamous hair style and toothbrush mustache.

Tom Schilling (”Elementary Particles”) will star as Hitler, and Goetz Georg as his Jewish friend, Schlomo Herzl. Urs Odermatt will direct the production, which starts shooting in Vienna this week. UFA plans to release the film in Germany next year.

As bad as it sounds, it sounds like it could be a solid black comedy...

-Disney is in talks with the cast of Enchanted in hopes of making a sequel...
-Here is the official plot synopsis for Indiana Jones 4...

The whip-toting, punch-packing, snake-hating, globe-trotting archaeologist with a fedora is back on screen in “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” debuting worldwide Thursday, May 22, 2008. This newest adventure begins in the desert Southwest in 1957 – the height of the Cold War. Indy and his sidekick Mac (Ray Winstone) have barely escaped a close scrape with nefarious Soviet agents on a remote airfield.

Now, Professor Jones has returned home to Marshall College – only to find things have gone from bad to worse. His close friend and dean of the college (Jim Broadbent) explains that Indy’s recent activities have made him the object of suspicion, and that the government has put pressure on the university to fire him. On his way out of town, Indiana meets rebellious young Mutt (Shia LaBeouf), who carries both a grudge and a proposition for the adventurous archaeologist: If he’ll help Mutt on a mission with deeply personal stakes, Indy could very well make one of the most spectacular archaeological finds in history – the Crystal Skull of Akator, a legendary object of fascination, superstition and fear.

But as Indy and Mutt set out for the most remote corners of Peru – a land of ancient tombs, forgotten explorers and a rumored city of gold – they quickly realize they are not alone in their search. The Soviet agents are also hot on the trail of the Crystal Skull. Chief among them is icy cold, devastatingly beautiful Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett), whose elite military unit is scouring the globe for the eerie Crystal Skull, which they believe can help the Soviets dominate the world … if they can unlock its secrets.

Indy and Mutt must find a way to evade the ruthless Soviets, follow an impenetrable trail of mystery, grapple with enemies and friends of questionable motives, and, above all, stop the powerful Crystal Skull from falling into the deadliest of hands.

Couple of posters...Hellboy/The Spirit...DVD Recomendation

Hey guys! Just thought I would drop in and let you all check out a couple of recently released posters for Hellboy 2, and The Spirit, based on Will Eisner's graphic novel. Also, come back in about four hours to check out the teaser trailer for the Spirit...So, here are the posters....

What do you guys think?

Outside of that, there really isn't any news worth noting, so here is a DVD recomendation for you all....

Once is a story of an Irish musician played by real life musician Glen Hansard, who is the lead singer of a small band called the Frames. One day, he meets a girl played by Marketa Irglova, and they begin to play together, and fall in love. Now, I didn't see this one in theatres, but after hearing all of the unanimous praise that it got out of Sundance and once it hit theatres, I had to check it out. It was really worth it. Michael Phillips, critic for the Chicago Tribune called it "possibly the greatest music film of our generation", and well, I think he has something there. This film is truly amazing. I'm not going to say anything else about it, because I went in totally blind, and it made the experience that much better. Please check this out. Here's the Trailer...
