TRAILER: Clash of the Titans...

So, this is a shocking, and ever so glorious surprise.

Today, Warner Brothers has released the first official trailer, albeit a short one, for Louis Leterrier’s new film, a remake of the classic Clash of The Titans. The film is set to star Sam Worthington, Gemma Arterton, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, and Pete Postlethwaite, and looks to be beyond badass. The trailer is indeed a short little teaser, but what it teases is a film that looks to pack a Mike Tyson size punch. It looks pitch perfect in its scope and style, and is exactly why I think that the original, while being great, is a great idea for a remake. The tone looks different, the style is updated, and those effects look superb. Really, I can’t say enough good things about this thing.

I also really love this cast. Worthington is a fantastic actor, and in Terminator Salvation, proved that he could even act a certain superhero (Yeah, I’m looking at you Bruce Wayne) under the table. He’s exactly the guy I think could lift this potentially cliché material to something truly great. Leterrier has proven to have a fantastic eye for action with films like Unleashed and last year’s Hulk. Many will find this a weird style change, at least for those, like me, who find the original to be great, but I guess it just worked for me. Yes, it’s far more Lord of the Rings than Clash of The Titans, but I think it works. Could just be me though. Just watch and enjoy!

Follows Perseus and his quest to battle Medusa and the Kraken in order to save the Princess Andromeda.

Clash of the Titans is directed by French filmmaker Louis Leterrier, of Unleashed, Transporter 2, and The Incredible Hulk previously. The screenplay was originally written by Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark) then later revised by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi (both of Crazy/Beautiful, The Tuxedo, Aeon Flux). This is a remake of Desmond Davis' original 1981 classic movie of the same name. Warner Brothers will be bringing Clash of the Titans to theaters everywhere starting on March 26th, 2010. Is everyone excited?

Go see something good!
