NEWS: The Runaways, The Scorcer's Aprentice, and Prop 8: The Musical...

Hello faithful readers! There's not a lot of news today, but here are your notable headlines...

- Right off of the box office success that was Twilight, Kristen Stewart is now set to not only star in that films sequel, but she has also signed on to play Joan Jett in the upcoming biopic, The Runaways, based on the career of that influential all girl rock band. Casting perfection, if you ask me...

- Jay Baruchel is in talks to take over the previous Mickey Mouse role as the Scorcerer's Apprentice, in the John Turtletaub helmed, Nick Cage starer of the same name. The film is based on the Fantasia vignette, in which Mickey played the main character...

- Stephen Sommers considers his upcoming Tarzan film to be "like Pirates of the Caribbean, with buffed-and-tanned actors flying through the jungle and sprinting up trees, parkour-style.”. Can one be any less interested in a film, as I am now?

- With the recent election of Barack Obama as President of The United States (an event I called 2 years ago), also came what I consider the "2 steps back" that the U.S. has made, after the "one step forward" in electing President-Elect Obama, the passing of the human rights taking Proposition, Proposition 8, in California. Normally I don't use this blog, or my facebook notes, as a political forum, and I won't do that here either, but there is a really funny video, from the geniuses at Funny Or Die, that talks about this really horrible Prop. It's worth it alone to see Allison Janney give it to John C. Reiley. Check it out below...

- Comedian Russell Brand is currently working on a remake of the '80's comedy, Arthur...

- Kevin McKidd, most famous for his role on Rome and currently as the Military doctor on the hit series, Greys Anatomy, is in talks, or so believed, to put on the boots and take up a giant hammer as the Norse God himself, Thor, for Marvel in the Kenneth Branagh directed film...

- Lexi Alexander, director of the upcoming Punisher film, Punisher: War Zone, to be released this weekend, is eyeing the now vacant directors chair over in DC world, as she is looking at picking up the pieces of Jonah Hex, with Josh Brolin to stay on as the main character...

- Finally, to respond to a previous post by yours truly, I must let you all know that the rumors of the downfall of the immortal Swayze are false. Here is what The Movie Blog had to say...

Actor Patrick Swayze has denied US tabloid reports that he is close to death, calling allegations “shoddy and reckless reporting”.

The 56-year-old star said reports that he is “on his last legs and saying goodbye to my tearful family” were “lies and false information”.

Swayze, who has been filming a US TV drama, said his pancreatic cancer was “a battle, but so far I’m winning”.

All I have to say is, and I don't like to swear here and I never will again, but cancer...FUCK YOU...

Come back later for more news and notes...

Go see something good!
