FIRST LOOK: James Franco As Allen Ginsburg In HOWL...
One of the coolest and most interesting films that I think we will be seeing a lot more of in the coming future, leading up to its release, is Howl. Very little has been released about this film, most of which I will discuss below, but the first real photo from the Gus Van Sandt produced film has been released. The film stars James Franco as Allen Ginsberg, the famous Beat Poet who faced an obscenity trial in 1957 for the publication of his poem, Howl.
Not only does this photo sell me on the look of the film and how it will most certainly sell the time period, but the cast, and particularly the director, has me over the moon about this piece. Coming to us from Times Of Harvey Milk (Oscar winning documentary) Rob Epstein, who also wrote the screenplay, the film stars James Franco, Jeff Daniels, Mary-Louise Parker (of Weeds fame), and David Straithairn. The photo is our first look at Franco and his costar, Aaron Tveit who plays Peter Orlovsky, long time friend and fellow poet. It all sounds great to me, and hopefully, we will see more of this film in the near future. Check out the photo below!
Go see something good!
