This may be it. Finally, Thomas Jane may have his much deserved break out role.
Most of you will know Jane from either the much maligned Punisher adaptation in which he starred as the titular character, or the much AWESOME Frank Darabont directed adaptation of the Stephen King novella, The Mist. However, he's not really a house hold name.
That said, HBO is banking on that changing rather quickly, with his new show, Hung. I've been seeing trailer after trailer about this television show on the network, and am beyond intrigued. The premise is very interesting, and is game for quite a bit of comedy: Jane plays a high-school basketball coach / gym teacher who realizes that he can become a star by exploiting his giant…sexual apparatus, and the cast and crew are great. Anne Heche co-stars as his "pimp", and the main reason I'm interested in this show is that it's being produced by Election/Sideways director, Alexander Payne, who also helmed the pilot. Along with the upcoming season of True Blood (THIS Sunday, I will have a review up Monday), this show is why I think HBO will be having a huge summer season. So without further ado, check out the trailer for Hung, which premieres June 28th.
Go see something good!
